Trunk or Treat

I can't believe Halloween is almost here! We have missed a couple of activities already because I keep thinking it is not quite as late in the month as it is. Anyway, we had a ward trunk or treat tonight and Little K chose to wear is Ironman costume. It was fun for him, but we ran out of candy way to soon. Little K said it was the best Halloween ever! Wait until he finds out we will go treak or treating again on Friday. I bought an Optimus Prime costume for him, but then found this Ironman costume at a thrift store with an extra costume inside, it was too good of a deal to pass up.

Greener Pastures

Mylife is getting easier, but it is still hard to balance everything and of course there is always the accompanying guilt of choosing one activity over another. The other day a fellow student was shocked that I don't have notecards made and haven't been studying for a test that I have next week. I told her that it took me all weekend just to type the notes for another class. She said that she studies from 8 - 5 everday, no studying after 5 and no studying on the weekend. I said how nice that would be to be able to do that, to which she seemed puzzled that I couldn't. How different our lives are, to be honest sometime I am jealous. But then I am reminded of what I would have to give up to have that kind of freedom. I think I like my pasture just the way it is. Just this morning I was driving Little K to school as the sun was coming up. He looked to the east and said, "Oh how beautiful!" "It is a little cool, no it is awesome!" Then as we drove by a park where the trees were outlined by the rising sun again, "It is so beautiful!" And the mornings when he asks if I will please lay beside for just a little while. I definitely wouldn't trade those moments for all the study time in the world.

First Snow

Well it took a little while, but we have now officially had our first snow. I know it won't last we should be in the forties this week, but it definitely came in with a bang! When I first got up this morning there was no snow, but about an hour later when Little K got up it was snowing huge flakes and they were being blown in a 30 mile an hour wind, with gust over 40. It was cold being outside, but thanks to my wonderful DH we were able to park both vehicles in their garages by yesterday afternoon. I like that our trailblazer is in a garage, no scraping windows, forty below wind chills, but it takes up soooo much room in the garage we can barely open the doors! Oh well, beggars can't be choosers and I am sure I will appreciate the garage as winter comes to stay. I guess it is another reason for me to lose some of this extra insulation I carry around!

Change of Seasons

Seasons are definitely changing up here, the high's barely reach 50, they have drained the fountains on campus, and put up the bus shelters. Little K is pointing out the beautiful trees in all their fall color. I have put away our summer wear and brought out the winter. It sure happened fast we went from 60's and low 70's of fall to hoping to be above 50 in one weekend. I am at least grateful that the snow did not make it this far east. I love snow, but I know it will be cold walking to classes, and there is just so many things I need, want to get done before the busyness of the holidays.

Fall Festival

This past two weekends was the fall festival at the Rheult Farm. The first weekend, DH just wanted to relax and I had three exams coming up with a major one on Monday so we chose not to go, but decided to go this past weekend. We went late, but we still had fun. Little K loves the big blow up rides, like the slide and the jumping castle. I think he would have gone on those a million time if the lines weren't so long. He also insisted on riding the train which was another extremely long line, so those rides took up pretty much all of the time we had. There was a pony ride, but another extremely long line, so we skipped it. It was very fun and relaxing and a great way to bring in the new season. We ended the day renting some movies and just relaxing at home together. I love that DH is home every weekend so that we still get our family time. He is way too tired during the week to do much, and our schedules do not allow for much together time, so weekends are soooo nice. Plus we often get to feed the missionaries since DH is home, they bring such a great spirit to our place. This past weekend we actually fed six of the eight missionaries that serve in the area. We will see who we are blessed with this Friday, did I mention I like living in the mission field and all the cool missionaries, like the new sister missionaries, we get to meet?

Our new pet

About a week after we moved in Little K and I went for a walk around the complex, we saw a few bunnies. DH and I thought that this was neat to see in a big city, apparently not everyone feels this way, many neighbors think it is a nuisance. A couple of weeks later and DH and Little K figured out that this baby bunny actually is living under the sidewalk/entrance to our place. We decided that we would adopt the little guy and have been feeding it. I think it is way cute, we really miss Ellie, and at least I don't really have to clean up after this "pet".
