What a Week!

I thought about the title, "When it rains, it pours..." too depressing (it is flood time again). Then "It can't get any worse...", wait yes it can. Then "Here's to always looking up!"; we are a short family, not so good. So we will just go with what a week! Sunday started off with K and I not feeling so well and DH having to head out to go back to work. If I had only known... this would be the best day of the week. We spent it resting. K was sicker on Monday, I just felt like I had a cold coming on. So I missed school on Monday. Then Monday night was horrid. I got no sleep, I mean not even 15 minutes of sleep! Everytime I swallowed it felt like I was swallowing razor blades. Of course, every time I would start to fall asleep, I would swallow and be jolted awake in pain. I had to go to school Tuesday morning for a lab project that I absolutely could not miss or make up. My dear friend A (which stands for amazing and awesome friend) watched K for me as he was still wore out. Right after I finished the lab project I went to the doctor, the rapid strep test was negative so I was sent home with a pamphlet on how to take care of the common cold and a prescription for narcotic pain relievers! I was a little surprised, who would have thought narcotic for sore throat. Well, with the maximum dose I still was in so much pain that I only got 3 hours of sleep. I totally expected to find out I had strep on Wednesday. I had to wait all day to find out as they did not get the results until late afternoon. Believe it or not it was negative, I explained I was still in a lot of pain. To which they responded if it is still this bad by Friday, come back in. I am not a person who can go on this little of sleep, one I have fibromyalgia which basically comes down to little sleep equals lots of pain and two I just get way crabby, difficult, and ornery. Fortunately for all those (K) who live with me, I was able to get about 5 hours of sleep thanks to my narcotics and Benadryl. I went to class Thursday, even though I still had a sore throat (it was a little better) and was tired enough I felt like I would break down and cry at the drop of a hat. Finally by Friday morning I really felt like I was improving, I might even be able to tolerate real food. So off we go to school, get to the first stop sign at the end of the block, and believe it or not was in a hit and run car accident! Who knew the week could end so well! No one was hurt, which is a huge blessing, so I am pretty grateful. My car will get fixed, I am feeling better, K is better, now if we could just make my schoolwork easier, hmmm.

Happy Valentine's Day!

This is what it is all about! K made this for me today at the babysitter's. We have been sick all week, so this was the first time he has gone since before Valentine's Day. It says it all, I love u mom. The loopy eight on its side is infinity. K says that is how much he loves me. The little red man is K and the hearts are his love for me, the pink figure! What an awesome kid I have!

A little midweek project...

This is actually from last week, but as usual things are busy so I did not get pictures posted yet. So I have been eyeing this material a really long while now thinking it would go well with our living room couches. I found it was going on clearance at Wal-mart, which of course means get it now or be very lucky to ever find it again, so I bought a couple of yards. It didn't take but an hour tops to cut and sew three new pillows. It looks pretty bold in our beige room, but I still like it.

Monster Truck Jam

This weekend was the Monster Truck Jam. Since we moved here we have gone as a family, initially it was DH's birthday present. This year, however, DH was unable to attend :( K and I went anyway. It was fun and really loud. K loved most of it, the nitrous go-kart cars was new this year and K thought they were pretty neat. I will let the picture do the rest!

Skating with Dad!

The spoils of the game.
K was allowing others to play his game, too!

So this week the local skating place sponsored K's school. It just happend that DH could be home, so he took K. I went up to campus to work on some group work. I wish I could have been there just to document it with pictures, but I am sure it would not have been the same. The two of them had a really good time, with lots of bonding. DH even skated! I have not dared since I fell last year. They played games, skated, played more games, skated... I am so glad they got to go, even if I only got a couple of pictures at the end.

Fight the Frost!

We had so much fun at last year's event, we decided to go again. This time I decided K could invite a friend, but I wanted some say in it. So K was torn between two picks, a friend from school and a friend from church. He decided to ask E from school first and if he couldn't go then to ask J from church. As it turns out E was able to go. So we met E and his mom and brother at the dome at the beginning of the afternoon. We stayed for about 3 1/2 hours. K and E had so much fun! All of the kids were well behaved this year (a big difference from last year!) and I got to get to know E's mom. So all in all I would give this event a two thumbs up!
