I have a Kindergartner!

I'll start with back to school night, it was held on Monday. I am not sure what all we did on Monday, but it wore little K out. He fell asleep about 45 minutes before we were supposed to leave for his school. So we woke him up to take him, he was not very happy with us and had some really bad curly bed hair. He perked up when he played with the toys, but otherwise was a little grumpy. He did meet his teacher and toured his new classroom. I was shocked at how little he is compared to some of his classmates. There was a little girl, or not so little, who met the teacher just ahead of us. Little K did not even come up to her shoulder! I fully believe that the Scandinavian breed is taller.

Today was Little K's first day of school. Last night we packed his backpack and he decided he wanted to bring lunch. So this morning I got up and made a big breakfast and prepared his lunch. He woke up just as I finished and was surprisingly in a good mood. (He is a night owl and while he normally wakes up happy it is at a much later time in the morning.) He was allowed to pick out which of his new school shirts to wear and after we were all ready we left. We were a little late because mom got confused as to which direction we needed to go for drop off. DH and Little K practiced all day yesterday on how to behave in school. Listen to your teacher, don't talk too much, be nice to the other kids, etc. DH even gave Little K a father's blessing last night to help him do well. I actually made it through the drop off without any tears falling, I was proud of myself and him. He reported at the end of the day that he ran, then he ran down the hall and there was dad. DH said that the Mrs. H reported that Little K behaved amazingly well!

Nostalgia

Here’s how it works:
1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn’t matter if you know me a little or a lot, anything you remember!
2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It’s actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I’ll assume you’re playing the game and I’ll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don’t want to play on your blog, or if you don’t have a blog, I’ll leave my memory of you in my comments.

Well it has taken me so long to get the pictures up and in the right order with descriptions that I need to type quick so I am not late for class. As all of you can tell the move happened. It didn't happen the way we wanted, but it happened. We ending up leaving late in the evening on the 14th arriving here on the 15th. The missionaries, four of them, had the truck unloaded in about an hour and a half! The amazing thing is that it took us two days to load the truck, and that was with most of our stuff prepacked in boxes! Anyway, we have made it and are about 90% unpacked, there are still rooms with no pictures up, and few odds and ends boxes in the garage. But all in all we are unpacked, I now look forward to the day that I can cook several meals and not constantly run to the store for staples I thought I had. I am in school and struggling to organize, but it will all turn out I am sure (hope and pray!) DH has officially been released back to full duty and has already found a job that works great for us. He will be driving back and forth on a set route or two, he will drive from midnight to one or two in the afternoon. This will allow him to be home to get Little K off the bus on the days that I am in class. We still have a few gliches to work out with scheduling and so forth, but I am sure it will all iron out in a week or two. I will post again later about Little K's school adventures.

A special visit, the good and the bad!

Our beautiful granddaughter!
Little K enjoying the fountains!
Granddad and granddaughter.
A shot of the family and the bridge.

These posts are long overdue, but I have internet access again, so I am planning to catch up. It just might tak e a little while. Well as many of you know we are moving so I can go to pharmacy school. The way everything panned out in the end we are renting a townhouse. Unfortunately for us, our dog Ellie is one of the breeds they do not allow. So we called our oldest son K, who lives on the east coast with his daughter K, and asked if he would like to have Ellie. He wholeheartedly agreed. We examined all the possible avenues for us to get Ellie out to him, drive and take a vacation, fly one of us with her, fly just her, etc. We decided that the best route for all of us was to fly K and K out to see us and send Ellie back with them. We just were not real keen on sending her by herself. So we got to see K and our granddaughter K for the weekend. (I found a fare deal for a weekend trip.) They arrived on Saturday and we drove back to our home and just relaxed. Little K and our granddaughter K had quite a unique relationship. You could definitely tell that they are both only children with minds of their own, but all in all I would say they got along. It was interesting to watch them as they both wanted to be in charge, from picking movies to who went down the stairs first. On Sunday we decided to make it our fun day, we drove about 45 miles to a small town swimming pool, that is a little bit of a water park. Little K loved it, he is such a water boy (he won't get out of the tub until he has "grandma hands"). We even got to go down the big waterslide twice, before we were told he would have to go down by himself or not at all. He was just too afraid to go through the initial wall of water at the top. Our granddaughter K takes after her dad and is not fond of swimming. She would go in the pool with one of us, but would not play in the little pool by herself. From there we drove to this amazing steel drawbridge that spans the Yellowstone River and into a railroad tunnel that goes through a curved hill so that when you are in the middle you are in pitch black darkness. Then on to a special pizza parlor that we love. On Monday both K's and Ellie boarded the plane to return to their home. The ticket agents were not real happy to see us, but Ellie made it on board, all 117 pounds of her and the kennel. We really enjoyed our visit, but we all miss Ellie and our family. In our new place the blinds in the living room sound just like Ellie scratching the door when they rub against the window sill. We know she is where she needs to be, and I am sure that K is taking better care of her than I would have time to. It is true that your pet is part of your family.

Summer Days

It is hard to believe that summer is almost over! Little K and his best friend M sure knew how to cool off today, they had so much fun. I had to take pictures, it's hard to believe that these two have just over a week to play, and then we will be gone. As of yesterday everyone has come to an agreement and our house is officially sold. We will close on the 13th and be on our way. I will miss this little town, we have really enjoyed living here in our comfortable little house. On a happy note, we were able to get tickets for our oldest son K and his daughter K to fly out next weekend! It is just for three days, but the are taking our dog Ellie back with them. We are happy that she is staying in the family and know she will be a good dog for our granddaughter K to grow up with. We wish we could take her with us, we all love her so much, but the place we are moving to does not allow big dogs. As for all the other updates, DH is scheduled to go back to the doctor on the 26th, and hopefully will be released back to full duty. The great part of this is that it does give him a little bit of time to find a good job in Fargo, and not just the first open job we can find. His arm is improving and I am thrilled about that. Beyond that everything is going well. I still have a lot to get done before we move and after, but one step at a time it will all get done!
