Fight the Frost

This was an event that was held in February. A local company brought all of their blow-up games to the local sports arena and people from the community volunteered to help monitor the games. This allowed the children in the community a full day to enjoy physical activity, lots of fun, and still stay warm. I only wish they had some seats around the games so parents and volunteers could sit down. Hours on the concrete standing was not my idea of fun, but Little K had a blast. Maybe if they do it again next year, I will bring my own chair!

Roller Skating

We are very lucky to live relatively close to the local skating rink, less than five minutes away. The rink often works with the local schools to offer discounted skating prices, as well as works with the PTA so that some of the proceeds actually goes back to the school. We only went once last year, but Little K must have liked it because he has asked to go back several times. We went twice over Christmas. The second time did not go very well for me, I sprained both my knee and ankle when Little K fell in front of me. I tried to bend over to pick him up and my skates went out from under me. I twisted to avoid landing on Little K and there you go. So until I have either lost a lot of weight and miracuosly healed my terrible knees, I will not be on roller skates until Little K is a great skater. Because of this lovely story, I have been avoiding going back because I was so embarrassed by my ungracefulness. Little K really wanted to go with his friends on a school PTA night, so I gave in. I must say he is getting better, at least on the carpeted areas. He only goes around the floor a few times, the rest is spent skating on the carpeted areas.

Monster Trucks

Wow it really has been a long time, I just can't ever seem to find time to sit down and catch up. So while these things happened awhile ago, I still thought I would post them. Last year, we went to the Monster Truck Jam as a family. Little K and DH really liked it, so we though we might make it a tradition while we are located here. So my gift to DH at Christmas was tickets. We were a little closer this year, but the really cool thing was that due to an accident I have a new camera with a better zoom, so I was able to take better pictures. I know we seem a bit country to like this sort of thing, but there were a lot of people there so at least we are not alone!
